About The Loughman/Snee Family
Please sign in to see more.
The known story of our ancestors begins over two hundred years ago in the midlands and west of Ireland and continues into the mix of the present. So many details are lost in just a few generations but we can fill in the pieces by studying the history of these times and places. Most striking was the incredible memories of our elders who furnished these oral histories, the celtic bard tradition was evident in gathering this information. The Snee Family oral history was told by Briget (Snee) Prendergast and Patrick Prendergast to Barbara Loughman at Shammer Kilkelly, Ireland in August 1988. Additional written correspondence from Briget was obtained in 2000. The Loughman Family oral history was told by Muriel (Snee) Loughman to Barbara Loughman at Shammer Kilkelly, Ireland in June 1996 and written correspondence obtained in May, 2000.
The Howard and Nolan Family history researched by Tom Nolan of Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. The Loughman Tree branches to The Nolans and Howards on the maternal side, from my grandmother, Margaret (Nana) Nolan. We didn't know a lot about the paternal side, my grandfather, Michael (Papa) Loughman's family at the time of this tree recording in 2009 but more research has been done by Maureen Loughman Abel and will be updated. (June 2017)
The Snee Tree branches to the Lydons on the maternal side, from my grandmother Bridget Lydon. There are lots of Snees on the paternal side, from my grandfather Patrick (Pa) Snee, there are even Snees on the Lydon side! We know that Padraig Snee settled in Shammer, Kilkelly in the early 1800's and he was from Sligo. Anything we did not know was left blank or a ?.
